Extraordinary Athletes - Don’t Let Age Stop Your Dreams
Posted on August 15th, 2008
I know that some of you reading this article are thinking - I’m to old to create my dreams, its all over for me. What a load of crap! Shame on you for even thinking those thoughts. You are never too old to achieve your dreams if you stay focused on them - visualise them - stay positive - remain impervious to anything that might happen outside of your control. What do Dara Torres, Hiroshi Hoketsu, Laurie Lever and Haile Satayin have in common? All of them are achieving their dreams in the Olympics despite their age.
Dara Torres is 41 years old and in the swimming pool this year at the Olympics competing against swimmers that are less than half her age. Was she competitive? Absolutely. She is a mother and an Olympian - it is never to late for you - hold onto your goals and the universe will deliver them to you.
Hiroshi Hokestu said “I feel relieved. If you have a goal, you can stay young. It would be good if people of my generation feel the same”. Who is he? He is the rider in the image, a 67 year old Japanese Olympian in the equestrian teams event. Hiroshi competed in the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. For all of you that think you are too old to change your life, or achieve your goals remember this name - and never doubt your ability again.
To keep him company is a 60 year old Australian Laurie Lever who will compete in the horse jumping. How bad do you feel if your 40 years old and are feeling to old to achieve your goals? You have another 20 years and could be competing in the Olympics. It is really time to now change your mindset.
